modding the wrist ball
, 102, 103 mark about 55% from the top and draw a line around. mark a line perpindicular to that line and the slot the hook passes through, drill hole where the lines meet on both sides

, 105 mark the side of the wrist ball 50% down and draw a guideline to cut. cut the slot with a dremel or file

, 107, 108 steel pin (I use a nickle plated sewing pin) the pin should slide through the hole easily clip the pin to be 1/16th inch shorter than the ball is wide.

, 110 mix two part epoxy (I use loctite 5 minute plastic epoxy) dab a small amount into holes and insert pin, center pin so it is recessed from both sides and clean any epoxy that squeezed out away before it sets. set aside to cure

, 112, 113 vinyl hand. you will note that the metal loop is attached to a ball inside teh hand. this is easily removed useing pliers. grip the metal loop firmly with pliers, hold the hand under hot running tap water for a few minutes until the vinyl softens. quickly grip the hand and pull the bead out.

, 115, 116 firmly press 5/16" plastic tubeing into hole in the hand until it stops. mark location with a graphite pencil. mark another line just over 1/16" closer to the end (the thickness of the magnet) this will be how far the post sticks out from the ball (very important measurement)

, 118 the magnet is 1/8" by 1/16" so it doesn't fit into the tubeing, use a dremel bit to carefully thin the walls of the tubeing to allow the magnet to fit flush to the end. use 2part epoxy to glue the magnet into the end of the tube.

, 120, 121 cut the tubeing off a bit longer than the farthest line, cut a notch across the end of the tube, test fit and trim until the raised tabs fit against the metal pin and the second guideline is barely showing. pull the tube back out and backfill the tube with some 2part epoxy to strengthen it. dont overfill above the groove, allow to set

, 120 attach s-hook to the metal pin, (it is much easier before glueing the tube in!) carefully glue the tube into place the tabs resting against the botton of the metal pin and the groove allowing the s-hook to move.

, 125 place a small sqare of plastic wrap over the magnet post and wrap 3 layers of masking tape snugly around the post and two layers on the tip. (next time I will use plastic tape because it will be easier to clean out). (the tape will give just enough space to ease the fit and make it possible to pull the post back out) place the 2nd magnet on the tip of the wrapped post it will stay all by itself (forgot to take a picture of this)

, 127 this is the trickiest and most time sensitive step. have a hair dryer on standby, mix 2 part epoxy and quickly fill the hand 70% makeing sure to keep as many air bubbled out as possible. useing the hair dryer, warm the hand for about 5 second. quickly shove the taped post into the hand all the way (make absolutely sure teh 2nd magnet is still stuck on!) and seat the ball into the cup of the hand. you will have a bit of plastic wrap sticking out, but that is ok. keep the post in firmly for 20 minutes to allow a good cure.

, 129 pull the ball and post out of the hand, the tape and plastic will likely stick, use a pin or needle to pick it out of the hole, (this is where masking tape was a Pain!) once all of the tape is out, you can see that the 2nd magnet is now firmly in place inside the hand! (see teh glint in te picture, it took about 8 shots to photo that!)

, 131 I used a bit of chalk pastel (white, peach, pink and pale yellow) to match my EG skintone, and mixed the powered pastel into 2part epoxy and filled in the holes where the pin was glued in, once it was set I trimed it flush to hide the drill holes!

, 135 attach ball to elastic by hooking the s-hook over the elastic cord! elastic should pull the ball snug to the socket.
